Alocasia Black Velvet 'Albo Pink Variegated'

Alocasia Black Velvet 'Albo Pink Variegated'

A rare and highly sought-after variegated form of Alocasia reginula, featuring the signature dark, velvety leaves of the species dramatically splashed with creamy white and soft pink variegation. Each leaf is unique, making this an exceptional collector's specimen that commands attention in any tropical plant collection.

  • Light: Bright, indirect light; consistent bright light enhances variegation expression. Avoid direct sun, which can scorch the delicate variegated tissue.
  • Temperature: 65–80°F (18–27°C); protect from temperatures below 60°F (15°C).
  • Humidity: 60–80%; benefits from elevated humidity. Use a humidifier or pebble tray to maintain consistent moisture in the air.
  • Watering: Allow the top inch of substrate to dry between waterings; overwatering is the primary risk. Use well-draining soil and never allow the plant to sit in standing water.

Additional Notes:

Foliage is compact and jewel-like, with thick, textured dark leaves contrasted by irregular albo and pink sectors. Plant in a well-draining mix of fine bark, perlite, and a small amount of coco coir. Fertilize lightly every 4–6 weeks during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertilizer. Variegation patterns vary per leaf and cannot be guaranteed to replicate exactly.

Maintenance: As a baby plant, repot according to growth until it reaches medium size. Provide adequate water, light, and fertilizer, but use less than for adult plants to avoid damaging development.
