The Anthurium andraeanum is a classic tropical aroid species renowned for its vibrant, long-lasting flowers and glossy foliage, making it a prized specimen for collectors seeking colorful aroids with exceptional blooming characteristics.
  • Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal. Avoid direct sunlight which can scorch the leaves.
  • Temperature: Warm conditions with temperatures between 20-28°C (68-82°F) during the day and 18-22°C (64-72°F) at night. Protect from temperatures below 15°C (59°F).
  • Humidity: High humidity is essential, maintaining levels between 60-80%. Use a humidifier, humidity tray, or terrarium to maintain adequate moisture.
  • Watering: Keep substrate evenly moist but not waterlogged. Allow the top layer to dry slightly between waterings. Reduce watering in winter.
Additional Notes
  • Bloom Characteristics: Produces striking red spathes with prominent yellow spadix that can bloom throughout the year under proper conditions, creating a spectacular display.
  • Foliage Characteristics: Features large, heart-shaped leaves that are glossy and bright green with prominent veining. The leaves provide an elegant backdrop for the vibrant red flowers that emerge on tall stems above the foliage.
