More information

Anthurium draconopterum 'Paradise'

Anthurium draconopterum 'Paradise'

A striking aroid species from the cloud forests of tropical America, instantly recognizable by its large, deeply bifid leaf with two broad, diverging apical lobes that form a bold wing-like silhouette. The surface is firm and leathery, with deeply impressed pinnate venation that adds strong architectural texture to each leaf.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–70% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can scorch the broad leaf surface.
  • Temperature: 59–75°F (15–24°C); an intermediate grower that appreciates stable, cool-to-moderate temperatures with good air movement.
  • Humidity: 70–90%; high humidity supports full leaf development and maintains the firm, leathery texture characteristic of the species.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly when the top of the substrate begins to dry; keep slightly moist but never waterlogged, and do not allow roots to dry out completely.

Additional Notes

Shipped bare root and well established. Best grown in a well-draining, chunky aroid mix that allows good root aeration. The 'Paradise' selection is prized for its particularly well-formed bifid leaves and vigorous growth habit, making it a standout specimen for intermediate aroid collectors.
