More information

Paphiopedilum Black Bird (rec.)

This reciprocal hybrid of Paph. Senne Calle and Paph. Grand Sangiovese features deep burgundy petals and a glossy slipper-shaped pouch, crowned by a pink dorsal sepal with pronounced dark veining.

  • Light: Moderate, indirect light near an east-facing window or a shaded south-facing window. Avoid direct midday sun.
  • Temperature: Intermediate to warm-growing; 65–80°F (18–27°C) during the day and 58–65°F (14–18°C) at night.
  • Humidity: 50–70% with gentle air circulation.
  • Watering: Keep the potting mix evenly moist but never soggy. Water as the surface begins to dry, drain thoroughly, and avoid leaving water in the crown.

Additional Notes:

The designation “rec.” indicates a reciprocal cross, with the seed and pollen parents reversed from the original pairing. Use a well-draining, moisture-retentive orchid mix. Flower form and coloration may vary between plants.
