Philodendron sharoniae (Big)

Philodendron sharoniae (Big)

Native to tropical forests of Ecuador, this impressive species brings a bold botanical presence to spacious plant collections. The Big designation indicates a larger offered plant, not a separate cultivar.

  • Light: Bright, indirect light near an east-facing window or behind a sheer curtain. Protect from intense midday sun.
  • Temperature: Intermediate to warm-growing, ideally 65–85°F (18–29°C). Avoid cold drafts and abrupt temperature changes.
  • Humidity: Aim for 60–80% humidity with gentle air circulation.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly when the upper layer of the medium begins to dry. Use a chunky, well-draining aroid mix that retains some moisture, and never leave the pot standing in water.
  • Growth Habit: Climbing, attaching to support with aerial roots. Provide a sturdy moss pole or similar structure to encourage stable growth and larger mature leaves.

Additional Notes:

Allow generous space for the elongated foliage and give new leaves room to unfurl without obstruction. Secure the stem loosely to its support rather than tying the petioles. Feed lightly during active growth and increase pot size gradually as the roots fill the container.
