Encyclia Lulu's Heart

A charming hybrid bred from E. alboxanthina and E. cordigera, displaying graceful sprays of deep mauve-pink flowers with a delicate lavender lip and bright yellow column — a rewarding combination of two beloved Encyclia species.

  • Light: Bright, indirect light; tolerates some morning sun. A south- or east-facing windowsill or a well-lit greenhouse bench works well.
  • Temperature: Intermediate-growing; 58–82°F (14–28°C). Can tolerate brief cooler nights, which may encourage blooming.
  • Humidity: 50–70%. Good air circulation is essential to prevent fungal issues.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the medium to dry slightly between waterings. Reduce frequency slightly in winter.

Additional Notes:

Produces erect to arching spikes with multiple flowers per spike. The blooms show deep rose-mauve petals and sepals contrasting with a soft lavender lip highlighted by a vivid yellow center — a standout on any bench. Grows best mounted or in a well-draining bark mix.
