Alocasia longiloba Suhirmaniana (S)

Alocasia longiloba Suhirmaniana (S)

A distinguished cultivar of Alocasia longiloba, the Suhirmaniana form is prized for its elongated, arrow-shaped leaves featuring bold silvery-white veining that contrasts dramatically against a deep blue-green background — a refined and eye-catching presence in any tropical collection.

  • Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal to enhance the striking vein contrast. Avoid direct sun, which can bleach or scorch the foliage, and deep shade, which reduces vein definition.
  • Temperature: Warm to intermediate conditions, 65–85°F (18–29°C). Protect from temperatures below 55°F (13°C) and cold drafts.
  • Humidity: Thrives at 60–80% relative humidity. A humidifier or pebble tray helps maintain the moisture levels this Alocasia prefers.
  • Watering: Water when the top inch of substrate feels dry. Use a well-draining mix to prevent root rot; reduce frequency during cooler months.

Additional Notes:

Leaves are elongated with a prominent midrib and lateral veins in silvery-white. As a small-sized plant, repot according to growth until it reaches medium size. Provide adequate water, light, and fertilizer, but use less than for adult plants to avoid damaging development.
